Adult male Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) emerges from the water with Topmouth Gudgeon (Pseudorasbora parva). Since metabolism of kingfishers is very fast, each individual has to eat 60% of its bodyweight every day. Thus, parents (mostly the male) must catch lot of fish to satisfy the 5-7 chicks. Moreover, male kingfishers are polygamic, meaning they might have 2-3 wifes and clutches at the same time!
