Place de la Concorde. An urban park in the heart of Paris
Since the application phase, Paris 2024 has the ambition to bring sport out of traditional stadiums to the heart of the city. The temporary transformation of the Place de la Concorde, a jewel of the Parisian architectural heritage, into an open stage for urban sports is a perfect illustration of this.
Spectacular, popular, more urban and open to all, the site of the Place de la Concorde could accommodate up to 37,000 people per day.
For the first time in the History of the Games, a dedicated site will bring together all the Olympic disciplines of urban sports (basketball 3 and 3, freestyle BMX, breaking, skateboard street and skateboard park) and public celebrations (concerts, cultural exhibitions, sports demonstrations, etc.).
Urban sports and Parisian heritage as a case
At the crossroads of the Tuileries garden and the most beautiful avenue in the world, the Champs-Elysées, the Urban Park of the Concorde will highlight the Parisian heritage while hosting spectacular, dynamic and modern sports.
Athletes, spectators and viewers will enjoy exceptional images, and an experience that matches the world’s largest sporting event.
Close to many other iconic competition sites such as the Champ-de-Mars, the esplanade des Invalides or the Grand Palais, the Place de la Concorde will be at the heart of a veritable urban park in the midst of the many monuments whose centre of Paris is awesome, a first in the history of the Games.
Attending the very first breaking competitions at the Olympic Games, treading the Olympic skatepark with his children or attending a concert with friends, the Place de la Concorde will be one of the must-see venues of the 2024 Paris Games.
