The Arena Porte de la Chapelle
An eco-designed site designed beyond the Games for local residents, the Arena Porte de la Chapelle is a brand new cultural hub in the North of Paris, which will host cultural and sporting events on a daily basis. This new facility was designed as a living space open to all and focused on the residents of the neighborhood, offering multiple sporting activities in its complementary premises. With an intermediate capacity of 8,000 seats after the Games, the Arena Porte de la Chapelle completes the Parisian offering in terms of hosting sporting events and shows. From its opening scheduled for 2023, it will be the home of Paris Basketball which will become its resident club.
The project selected for the construction of the Arena Porte de la Chapelle stands out for its eco-design. 80% of the building's surface area will be planted with vegetation, in a plant continuity which will refresh the entire site. Covered in a facade of recyclable aluminum, the building will be largely designed using biosourced materials, mainly wood. The Arena will be designed to welcome everyone, since its design will be focused on universal accessibility, and this for each of the spaces that make it up, from the large room to the terrace which will overlook the whole.
Capacity: for badminton and para badminton events, the Arena will be able to accommodate 6,700 spectators.
For rhythmic gymnastics and para weightlifting, the capacity will rise to 7,000 spectators.
