Great sphinx and pyramids under bright sun, Giza, Cairo, Egypt
Featuring the face of a human being and the body of a lion, the 66 feet tall Great Sphinx of Giza stands on the western bank of the Nile river. Cut out from limestone, the Great Sphinx of Giza is considered to be Egypt’s oldest known monument.
Although its original age and meaning has still not been decoded, the Sphinx remains as one of the best places to visit in Egypt for history as well as mythology enthusiasts.
