Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, part of the State of Pernambuco, Brazil, and located 354 km (191 nmi; 220 mi) off the Brazilian coast. It consists of 21 islands and islets, extending over an area of 26 km2 (10 sq mi). Only the eponymous main island is inhabited; it has an area of 18.4 km2 (7.1 sq mi) and a population estimated at 3,101 in 2020. While the archipelago is relatively low-lying, there are parts stretching above 100 m (328 ft) in elevation.
The islands are administratively unique in Brazil. They form a "state district" (Portuguese: distrito estadual) that is administered directly by the government of the state of Pernambuco (despite being closer to the state of Rio Grande do Norte). The state district's jurisdiction also includes the very remote Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago, located 625 km (337 nmi; 388 mi) northeast of Fernando de Noronha. Seventy percent of the islands' area was established in 1988 as a national marine park.
In 2001, UNESCO designated it as a World Heritage Site because of its importance as a feeding ground for tuna, sharks, turtles, and marine mammals. Its time zone is UTC−02:00 all year round.

“ตะรุเตา” เป็นคำที่เพี้ยนมาจากคำว่า “ตะโละเตรา” ในภาษามลายู แปลว่า มีอ่าวมาก ตะรุเตาเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติที่อยู่ในทะเลอันดามัน บริเวณช่องแคบมะละกา มหาสมุทรอินเดีย ในท้องที่อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสตูล ด้านใต้ของเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติ ห่างจากชายแดนไทย-มาเลเซีย เพียง 4.8 กิโลเมตร อุทยานแห่งชาติตะรุเตาเป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวในความใฝ่ฝันของนักท่องเที่ยวทั่วไป เนื่องจากเป็นจุดรวมของความงามที่ธรรมชาติสร้างสรรค์ ทั้งบนเกาะ และในน้ำ มีป่าที่อุดมสมบูรณ์เป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของสัตว์ป่านานาชนิด ในน้ำก็งดงามด้วยกลุ่มปะการังหลากสีสวยสด จนเป็นที่กล่าวขวัญกันไปทั่วโลก ซึ่งประกอบด้วยเกาะน้อยใหญ่จำนวน 51 เกาะ รวมทั้งพื้นที่บนเกาะและทะเลประมาณ 931,250 ไร่ หรือ 1,490 ตารางกิโลเมตร

Belonging to Australia, these Indian Ocean isles lying roughly halfway between the Aussies and Sri Lanka have just 600 residents loving life on the two atolls and 27 coral islands that make up Cocos. Only two of these isles are inhabited, which means there's an embarrassment of empty islands and accompanying unoccupied beaches. Canoeing out to explore them is encouraged.
Those after more than just sun-basking and sea baths can do an atoll walk through the shallow lagoon Cocos encloses and wind up on Prison Island, where real prisoners were once stranded.

The terrain of the island has two noticeable levels. The higher level is made up of a limestone cliff running along the coast, with a plateau in the centre of the island reaching approximately 60 metres (200 feet) above sea level. The lower level is a coastal terrace approximately 0.5 km (0.3 miles) wide and about 25–27 metres (80–90 feet) high, which slopes down and meets the sea in small cliffs. A coral reef surrounds the island, with the only major break in the reef being in the central western coast, close to the capital, Alofi.

They form a "state district" (Portuguese: distrito estadual) that is administered directly by the government of the state of Pernambuco (despite being closer to the state of Rio Grande do Norte). The state district's jurisdiction also includes the very remote Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago, located 625 km (337 nmi; 388 mi) northeast of Fernando de Noronha. Seventy percent of the islands' area was established in 1988 as a national marine park.
In 2001, UNESCO designated it as a World Heritage Site because of its importance as a feeding ground for tuna, sharks, turtles, and marine mammals. Its time zone is UTC−02:00 all year round.
